Dr. Monica Munoz Principal

Welcome to Las Palmas Leadership School for Girls!

With a diverse background spanning 27 years in public education, Dr. Muñoz has made significant contributions to the field. Beginning as an elementary and middle school teacher, she accumulated a wealth of classroom experience over the years to ensure student success. Dr. Muñoz later used that knowledge to support teachers as she transitioned into leadership and administrative roles. She is now serving in her 12th year as a campus principal.

Dr. Muñoz played a vital role in the community co-design in establishing Las Palmas Leadership School for Girls which opened in 2020 serving 88 girls. Today, Las Palmas Leadership School for Girls has an enrollment of nearly 350 girls that are on a mission to learn, lead, and make a better and more just world. Currently serving as the Head of School, her commitment to education is now channeled into empowering and shaping the educational journey of K-8 girls in the heart of San Antonio’s Westside community. In 2024, the campus became the 1st All-Girls IB World School in Texas. Her leadership at the helm of this institution demonstrates her dedication to fostering leadership qualities and academic excellence in the next generation of young women.

Dr. Muñoz’s extensive and varied experiences in education, coupled with her recent role in founding and leading a specialized school, underscore her passion for educational innovation and commitment to creating equitable and thriving learning spaces that have a positive impact on the lives of the students she serves.
