Dual Credit

Program Description:
Dual credit is an early college experience rigorous program because a high school student enrolls in a Palo Alto College course while also enrolled at an Edgewood ISD High School. The Dual Credit students receives academic credit for the course from the college. The Palo Alto College Grade counts for both the Palo Alto College grade and the high school grade.  

Program Benefits:

* One-on-one college advising - Students work with a Palo Alto advisor to monitor course progress and student standing. 

* Free college - Dual credit is provided at no cost to the students; Edgewood ISD pays all registration and book fees for the dual credit course. 

* Timed saved for EISD students 

* Transferability – PAC courses should transfer to four-year university.

Student Expectations:

* Students must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA

* Edgewood Dual Credit students are also Palo Alto College students and must follow all PAC rules  and guidelines. 

 * Students are expected to log into their ACES account and check their grades. 

 * Students are expected to read their resources and review their notes daily. 

 How do EISD students enroll:

To enroll in a Dual Credit course, students must demonstrate a college readiness score on the Texas Success Initiative Assessment.  Each Dual Credit course has a TSIA prerequisite. Ex) English 1301 student must be college ready on TSIA Reading and TSIA Writing.
